Stories of the heart character and soul of Nihi Sumba reached long-time friends American brand-building entrepreneur Chris Burch and prolific South African-born hotelier James McBride in 2011 who together acquired the resort in 2012. The property and main resort on Sumba encompasses 567 acres of land. All villas are built on terraces with private verandas that sift through the trees with an impressive use of living space imbued by natural materials to make the most of the dramatic views of the endless turquoise Indian Ocean.All villas are the epitome of understated luxury featuring spacious outdoor living areas sandy-floored bathrooms with an open-air concept and private pools with spectacular views of the azure Indian Ocean.
